Kelly's Leadership for Seniors
For 25 years Kelly has been advocating for quality healthcare, affordable housing and consumer protections. Now that we are facing the dangers of privatized Social Security and retirement funds, Kelly feels it is more important than ever to fight for basic protections for senior citizens.
Kelly has led campaigns to protect seniors' retirements and rights:
- Was national spokesperson for Citizens for Retirement Protection and Security to protect retirement funds
- Served as statewide spokesperson for the Coalition to Preserve Emergency Care to fund emergency services
- Managed AARP's efforts for single-payer healthcare
- Moderated former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton's National Town Hall Meeting on "What Every Woman Should Know About Social Security"
- Fought for assisted living housing for seniors with the United Housing and Community Development Corporation
- Created the HomeSafe Campaign to pass legislation to protect seniors who purchase poorly constructed condominiums
- Created Women's Health Campaign to hold pharmaceutical corporations accountable for their dangerous drugs
- Publicized AARP's fight against predatory lending
- Fought for legislation to protect seniors injured at work
- Organized against the Federal Product Liability Bill to protect seniors' right to sue drug companies for dangerous pharmaceuticals
- Built and represented the broad coalition to allow seniors to fight age discrimination in housing and employment
